Since moving into a new studio, the most profound desire of mine has been to emphasize labor in my work. The gritty, repetitive investment of reworking and sanding down a surface is a new process that is developing into a relationship. The temporal nature of the work is not linear but cyclical, as scraps of the paintings history begin to resurface and become vital components. This new process for myself has brought what I feel is an honest vision or new way of seeing my work.
