Drawings: NEW YORK STYLE

A while back I was having a conversation with a guy who was telling me, or maybe selling me?? the idea about these bikes or mopeds that his friend enhanced. By enhanced I mean, adding over two hundred lights, signs, gadgets..bells and whistles, literally. Anyway, my roomate and long time friend Eddy were inspired. Said "guy" had these post cards from a show that the bikes were entered into, which he left me with after I traded him a dollar for one.

I have been compelled by these postcards ever since and decided I had to search out--really investigate this abundance of visual information through continual line drawings. The images have a great optic flow and take so much patience to develop any sort of depth. The above is one of several in a series of "bike" drawings. I feel like their taking on some human qualities--like portraits.

        Enjoy and thanks for looking!

Also, the aforementioned Eddy (Edward Matson) makes fun things too

Chew your milk

A  few paintings, in different stages. Part of lingering, anticipated body of winter work.
